Townsville, Threenager and Planning

Another bad night. Unable to settle Madeline in bed after an hour trying. Brought to our bed at 430am.

We were so tired we got up at 7am to start our long trip to Townsville.

After packing up the car and hooking up the van, our left indicator was on the fritz again. We took our connector off and jiggled the plug. It worked again. We’ve booked in with an auto electrician in Townsville.

Terrible twos morphed into threenager

Madeline was in a super grumpy mood all day today. She was testing our patience and our abilities as parents.

She was indecisive about everything but we couldn’t choose for her. From what she wore, to what she watched, ate etc.

She threw her water bottle on the floor and laughed that now mummy needs to get it. I said “no luck with that kiddo, you throw it, you pick it up.” She had to wait for 30min for our next stop.

Madeline was told by Jason to not throw the toilet paper roll on the ground after she picked it up to launch it, while in the bathroom. So she dropped it on the floor instead. Jason told her off “I told you not to drop it”. In the process of picking up the roll, he dropped his toothbrush on the floor. Madeline says “I told you not to drop it.”

She is a very pig headed child with a strong will and stubborn attitude. She is testing us at every turn at the moment. Give us strength!!

Townsville

We headed north from GlenErin farm stay at around 830am. It was a partly cloudy day, but the wind had settled completely.

Dark clouds started to accumulate

We headed through Home Hill to a town called Ayr. We bought some pies and planned to spend some time at the playground, when the heavens opened up.

Plantation Park, Ayr

So after a quick bite to eat we were on our way again.

We arrived in Townsville at around 12pm. We checked in and parked the van. We spent the afternoon indoors, both due to the rain and Madeline’s very grumpy mood.

We spent some time looking at what to do while we are in Townsville and making a brief plan of attack.

Tomorrow

We plan to explore Townsville, some of the city at least.

We are heading to Charters Towers on Thursday, for one night, for my birthday.

  1. You will look back with such fond memories!!! Elliott refused to get out of his pyjamas one day on a really hot day travelling north in WA. he refused to do just about everything we asked with such a superior attitude we started calling him Lord Melbury – a pretend Lord in Fawlty Towers (the kids loved that show) We now joke about the day Elliott was Lord Melbury and he reckons he doesn’t remember but i think he does!! They are so gorgeous and so frustrating all at the same time!!! Xx
