Cobb and Co, Short in the circuit and Changed plans, again

Tuesday 15th June 2021

Today we were booked into the Cobb and Co stage coach experience.

We were greeted with scones and tea. We then went on to the stagecoach.

We had a 75min ride through town and onto the National Stock route where the previous Cobb and Co did their run.

The Afternoon

We went to the butcher to get our meat for the week before returning to the caravan.

Jason called to get the battery replacement sorted. Upon disconnecting the battery, there was a short circuit and massive current went from the battery and fried our battery management system.

Lights, water and fridge no longer running on 12V or 240V. To say we were screwed is an understatement.

The aftermath

The battery was now the least of our concerns. We were dealing with a toddler craving full on attention and 2 frustrated and flustered adults trying to find a solution.

Phone calls left, right and centre and we had a plan in place.

A Change Over system with a wonderful Victorian company. They take damaged battery systems for repair and send a refurbished replacement. 1 week without the caravan was better than the foreseeable 4 week repairs.

Accommodation booked for the night in the most expensive pub hotel in Longreach.

Accommodation booked in a motel in Mt Isa while we await delivery of our replacement.

Caravan storage organised in Mount Isa while we await the replacement.

Planned trip from Longreach to Mount Isa for tomorrow.
