Horseshoes, Back Creek and Surf

Thursday 4th February 2021

We woke up after a much better sleep. Slept from 7 til 5.

We had breaky, tidied up and packed for a morning out at South West Rocks.

Horseshoe bay

Horseshoe bay is in the centre of the bustling tourist centre of South West rocks.

Named for its horseshoe shape, it is lined with Norfolk pine trees and beautiful walkways.

In the earliest times of settlement here, when segregated swimming was in vogue, it was known as the ladies’ bathing bay.

Point Briner

This point contains a Flagstaff and Signal station. These two structures, built in 1902, were part of the Pilot Station and were used for communicating with ships sheltering in Trial Bay and/or bound for the Macleay River entrance. Flags, telescopes and other communication equipment were stored in this little building.

We returned to Trial bay in Arakoon NP to have another beach swim. We had lunch before heading back to the Caravan.

Afternoon

After returning to our caravan Madeline had fallen asleep in the car. We transfer her to bed and let her nap.

Lunch nap

After a rest we spent sometime sorting out our gear for our move to a new destination tomorrow.

Madeline had another jump on the bouncing pillow while I made rissoles.

New destination

We are heading north west to Thora tomorrow, half way between Bellingen and Dorrigo, where we will spend 2 nights.
