Week 7 – Biking, Booking errors and Blackouts

Sunday 7th March 2021

We had a very heavy downpour overnight leaving massive puddles of water all over the place. We woke up to a partially cloudy morning with lots of grey skies. Today we went to 1770 but just for a walk and play on the swing.

At the park with mummy and daddy

Eva had woken up with a really crook neck and was in a fair bit of pain today. Madeline joined us in bed half way through the morning after a horribly broken night sleep.

Playdoh fun with mummy

Jason went fishing in the evening. So Madeline got a mummy put down.

Madeline wanted a cold bath tonight

Monday 8th March 2021

Eva’s first day of locumming today. She was super nervous about being interstate.

Jason spent his first full day with Madeline alone, since we left Sydney.

It was a fun filled day with lots of learning, playing and adventures. Jason and Madeline rode 14km on the eBike including a stop at the tackle store and the park.

Eva’s day was filled with patients. It was uneventful and relatively smooth for her first day at a new practice.

Tuesday 9th March 2021

Today we had to get our car serviced. The tires rotated and wheel alignment done.

Eva was at work and had a few interesting cases to deal with. She is enjoying her locum work and likes being helpful in a small coastal town. The hardest part is referring for imaging which is 1.5hrs away. Making that decision can be difficult.

Jason and Madeline hung out at the van doing washing of clothes, play and education.

Wednesday 10th March 2021

Today we drove to 1770 for some fishing and swimming. Jason caught a puffer fish. Madeline was fascinated by how it puffed up.

Eva was at work and fully booked out.

After a bite of lunch, Madeline wanted to go back to 1770 Marina. So we ride the bike there.

Eva had a blackout at work and there was one at the caravan park too. She had to revert to hand written notes and scripts for the afternoon.

The power kept coming back on and cutting out again. It was fixed before midnight.

Not much happening as it’s been raining. Madeline and Jason have done a few more trips on the bike.

Biking it with daddy

Madeline loves playing at the park next door and loves running on the beach.

Eva’s been working hard and seeing a lot of patients everyday.

Saturday 13th March 2021

Back together as a family for the weekend. We had a great sleep until 6am. We spent the morning with cuddles, playing and learning.

In the afternoon we went onto Agnes Water beach. Jason did some fishing and caught 2 whitting on lures.

Dad fishing in the background

I did some metal detecting and found a 1c coin.

Sand EVERYWHERE

Madeline built castles, a fortress and a sea bath.

We have been booking some tours ahead of schedule so we are not disappointed and miss out. Eva booked tickets on the Kuranda Skyrail and Scenic Railway up near cairns.

After receiving a COVID declaration form she decided to check the ticket dates. It was booked for 14th March, not the 21st May. We have no idea how it happened but it’s been rectified and changed to the correct day.

We’ve book all our accommodation up to Townsville and some right up to Cairns.

We also bought tickets for the Winton Dinosaur museum and Lark Quarry dinosaur footsteps.

Planning ahead is hard, when you want to “wing it.” The problem is COVID has put massive limitations on tour numbers, it near impossible to book on or around the day you want to go.

Next week

It will be our 3rd week in Agnes Water next week. Evas second week of work.

We have a lot of relaxing to be had and a lot more swimming, fishing and metal detecting to do.

Currently our home base – Agnes Water and 1770
