Week 15

Sunday 2nd May 2021

Today Madeline woke up at 530am. We had an early start, so loaded the washing machine to do a few loads.

We went shopping for our groceries today. Madeline was in a very jovial mood today.

She was told by not one, but two shopper that she is adorable. They went on to have a conversation in the grocery isles.

We returned home to unpack and then made our way to Rowes Bay for some fishing and park fun.

Jason caught one fish only, it was a difficult and quiet coming in tide.

Tomorrow we have another public holiday, so we will be enjoying ourselves out and about again.

Monday 3rd May 2021

QLD had another public holiday this Monday, two in a row. So Eva had the day off.

We had a great night sleep overnight. Madeline slept from 7….til 7!

When got out of bed and had breakfast. We then got ourselves ready.

Eva went beach combing at the strand today. Jason and Madeline went to the park.

After a morning of fun and games we headed back to the caravan for lunch.

After lunch Eva cut Madeline’s hair. It was her first ever haircut.

After the hair cut, we did some drawing and then decided to go for a swim in the caravan parks pool.

Tomorrow Eva is back to work and working 5 days, including Saturday.

Madeline and daddy have to drop the caravan off for a warranty assessment for a roof leak. So they will be spending the whole day out and about.

Tuesday 4th May 2021

We had a very early start. We had a tiny frog in the kitchen, God knows how it got there. We dressed, washed and packed the van. We hitched the van and left at 650am.

Eva was dropped off at work. Jason and Madeline continued onto New Age Townsville.

After dropping the van off we went to the cinemas to watch Peter Rabbit 2.

Madeline enjoyed the movie very much and sat through the whole thing.

Afterwards we went shopping to BCF.

We received a call to pick up the van. They stripped the roof and resealed the whole thing including under the solar panels. Fingers crossed it does the job.

We dropped the van back at the caravan park and then went to pick up Eva. We had takeaway for dinner.

They mowed our caravan site while we had moved the van. It looks really nice and tidy.

Wednesday 5th May 2021

We had a good sleep overnight. Eva woke up with a slightly sore throat today.

After dropping Eva at work, we went into the pool at the caravan park.

We spent 2.5hrs swimming in the pool this morning.

After swimming we had a wash at home and had lunch.

We spent the afternoon playing and learning.

Jason bought us a new fire pit after our other one literally fell apart in the tunnel boot. It’s quite fancy.

Tomorrow Jason and Madeline return to the library for Toddler Time.

Thursday 6th May 2021

We had a good night sleep. It got down to 15 outside overnight and around 20 in the van. Madeline

After dropping Eva at work, we went back to the library for Toddler Time. There were about 8 other toddlers there this time around.

There was playing, singing and dancing.

After the library we came home for lunch. We popped down to Coles where Madeline got a sticker.

After returning home, Madeline wanted to play taxis again.

This afternoon was otherwise a quite one.

Friday 7th May 2021

We had rough night sleep. Madeline kept kicking her covers off. It was 12 degrees overnight. We used our diesel heater in the morning.

Today we spent the morning getting a few things from the shops and the afternoon in the pool.

Madeline was playing with the tap at the front of the van and lost her footing. She leant up against the van with her face and got a very superficial burn on her right cheek and forehead.

Saturday 8th May 2022

Eva had a morning shift today. we had an amazing night sleep. Again dropping to around 14 overnight. This time we zipped Madeline into her zip sheet and before bed threw on the doona. She can turn and flip over without the covers tangling around her.

After picking Eva up at lunchtime we went to the shops. Eva got a hair cut.

We then went to Rowes Bay and spent some time at the playground and metal detecting the beach.

This week

Week 16 of our travels is our last week in Townsville. Eva has 5 more days at her locum job.

We have really enjoyed it here, but are looking forward to the next leg of our trip.
