Burke&Wills, Three Rivers and termites

Tuesday 8th June 2021

We woke up early to get a head start on our 375km journey.

Our barramundi scale like earrings

We left at 830am from Karumba on a sunny and warm day.

Flat Savannah Plains

We had to stop at 3 seperate traffic lights for road works, that added an extra 30min to our time on the road.

The fascinating changes in scenery as we approached undulating hills was lovely.

We also saw thousands of termite mounds, looking eerily like cemetery head stones.

We were dodging road trains carrying dirt and others with cattle, on the single carriageway, semi-double carriageway roads.

We travelled until 12pm when we stopped at Fiur Ways, Burke and Wills Roadhouse.

Filling up diesel at 174/L and bought an $8 packet of chips.

We continued our travels for another 100km to our destination at Three Rivers.

We settled in for a restful afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow

We travel 219km to Julia Creek via Cloncurry.
