Rainy days, the Grandis and windy cooking

Wednesday 27th January 2021

Today we woke to a humid morning. It’s was an ok night overnight. Madeline slept well except for getting cold and refusing to be covered again.

We repacked the back of the Ute to make it more ordered and accessible. We did 2 loads of washing and cleaned the van.

We decided to return to Neranie Bay for another swim. After 30min of driving it started to rain and blow a gale. So we decided to leave.

Neranie Bay – what a difference a day makes
Eucalyptus Grandis

We drove through Myall Lake National park to the Grandis tree. The tallest tree in NSW.

It stands 76.2metres above the ground, has a diameter of 4.5m and a 11.5m circumference. Most Grandis trees grow to about 50m. It’s around 400 years old.

Meanwhile we are staring at this awesome tree and Madeline….well is a toddler.

Cooking in the wind

I decided to make pumpkin damper to go with our dinner tonight. Prepping was easy, but keeping the Ziggy (mini BBQ) alight in the wind is another story. It managed to cook within 45min despite the gas blowing out and cooling. Hopefully it tastes as good as it smells.

We spent the afternoon and evening drawing, playing with magnet books and playdoh.

Tomorrow we move further up north. We will be stay just north of Taree on the inland. A short drive to a rowdy bay national park. We will be staying for around 5 nights. Looking forward to keeping you posted.
