Tears were shed as goodbyes were said

The start of our adventure – Lapping Australia – Saturday 23rd January

We had to push our departure date forward due to COVID-19. We were planning on leaving on the 1st February. In order to cross the border to QLD we had to be out of greater Sydney for 14 days. So Eva wrapped up work early and we took off.

Eva was planning on finishing work at 430pm on the Friday night. As it happens there was a serious motorbike accident out the front of her surgery and so she went out to administer first aid. We finally left her work at 7pm.

We had lots of packing still to do. Saturday morning was all about packing to go. We were finally able to hit the road at around 11am. Tears were shed as goodbyes were said. It’s always hard leaving family and friends behind, but alas life must go on.

So our adventure started…going 12km/hr along Pennant Hills Rd towards M1. Hello bludgers taking Monday off to make it a long weekend.

We stopped at MacDonalds for lunch with a Gazillion other people. Deciding that 3.5hrs was far enough to travel we stopped at….wait for it….Morisset. yep 122km is around 3 hrs.

We pulled up to Morisset Showground after booking online. We had power and water on this super hot day. After setting up the caravan we took off to Sunshine park to give Maddie time to stretch her legs.

So we also have a non functioning toilet in our self sufficient van. The blade in the cassette has fallen out and we can’t for the life of us getting to stay in. Looking at buying another while we organise fixing this one.

Today was a busy and exciting day. What a start to the beginning of a fabulous holiday.
