Curtain Springs, Mt Conner and Ayers Rock Resort

Friday 11th March 2022

We woke up after a peaceful night at the rest area. We packed up and moved on.

We first stopped at Mt Conner rest area to get some photos.

Mt Conner

Mt Conner

Mount Conner, also known as Atila, is a mountain located in the southwest corner of the Northern Territory. It lies within the Curtin Springs cattle station in Pitjantjatjara country.

Its height reaches 859 metres above sea level and 300 metres above ground level.

We drove a little further to fill up and take a short break, at a place called Curtain Springs.

Diesel was 2.41/L which is what we are seeing out here in the Red Centre.

Curtin Springs

Occupying an area of 416,400 hectares (1,028,947 acres) the working cattle station and roadhouse facility is located on the Lasseter Highway.

Named after John Curtin the prime minister of Australia during WWII. It has been run as a cattle station by the Severin family for over 50 years.

We left Curtin Springs and arrived at Ayres Rock just before midday. We checked in to our campsite and had lunch.

After lunch we walked through the town centre and stopped to have a drink at a bistro and bar.

We arrived at the caravan and prepared dinner, before washing up and heading into the National Park.

We went to the Sunset Viewing area for Uluru. It was amazing and the photos just donโ€™t do it justice. It grandeur was impressive.

Tomorrow

We are staying at UluแนŸu and doing some short walks and visiting the cultural centre.
