Alice Springs Day One

Friday 4th March 2022

We had an ok night with both girls in our bed by morning. we left at 830am again and headed further south.

We pulled over at a road clearing as Charlotte was hungry and couldn’t wait any longer. The scenery was pretty flat and pastoral for most of the way until we headed over a peak near Burt Plain. Then there were mountains and rolling hills.

We arrived at Alice Springs at around 1130am. For a place we thought was going to be flat and unimpressive, it really did impress.

Driving through the south end of town there are mountains everywhere.

We pulled into our caravan park and checked in. Having been given a site, we went to set up, unhitched and realised that our power cord and extension were not going to reach the power point.

We had to rehook the van and move. Other sites the water was too far away. We finally chose a site that was more suitable.

After ducking out to the shop for milk, we went for a walk around the park. It was 3pm, temp was 42 but fells like 36. We realised quickly that the dry heat was so much more bearable.

Madeline explored the games room and pay phone.

We then had dinner and settled in for the night.

Tomorrow

Aunty Bec arrives from Sydney after surprising Nanna Lin for her birthday, coming from New York.
