Cahill’s Crossing, Crocodiles and Arnhem Land

Wednesday 7th July 2021

Today we visited Cahill’s Crossing, which is located on the East Alligator River.

It is named after the legendary buffalo hunter Paddy Cahill (1863–1923) who was one of the first European pioneers of the region.

It is the only road access point into Arnhem Land, which has been recognised as Aboriginal land since 1931.

In order to cross you require a permit from the Northern Land Council (NLC). As Arnhem Land is Aboriginal land there is a required permission to enter.

Cahill’s Crossing is a popular viewing platform for crocodiles.

Tomorrow

Jason heads off on a Fishing Tour. Madeline and mummy have a girls morning.

  1. Hi – sorry to bother you. My name is Carmelita. One of the members of the OLMC Parish choir with Lin Morris. One of our choir members received a msg from Lin via Messenger saying she’s in hospital as she’s had a surgery. We are checking if this is a legit msg and not a scam so I thought I’d check with you if you’ve heard anything from Lin? Thanks
